The questions first

The journey begins with a list of things the traveller needs to understand. Getting there is one question. Knowing what the day will ask of her is another.

Preparation has its own small scenes. The open notebook. The bag unpacked and packed again. The moment when an uncertain idea begins to look like a day that will actually happen.

The practical page

She keeps the practical questions together so they do not occupy every thought. A few things need to be known before leaving. Other things can wait for the journey itself.

  • Verify booking requirements with the relevant official source.
  • Check transport, access, and seasonal conditions for the actual route.
  • Give costs, source links, and the date of verification.

Then the story

Once the practical questions are answered, the writing can return to the experience. Readers who came for a route can find it. Readers who came for a story can stay with it.

Places change, and so do we. Practical details in a published story will include a date and Eunice's own experience.
